At Sol we are serious about all things sustainability and we believe that what we put in our bodies should taste good… and make us feel good too! Our range of beautiful sustainable products are designed to make living a sustainable life as simple as possible. In fact, filtering your water with our Charcoal Sticks couldn’t be easier! (or better for the environment!)
Here’s a quick how to…
First boil the stick for up to ten minutes before placing it inside your SoL cup or Large SoL bottle. To keep the charcoal stick clean and fresh, we recommend doing this every two weeks to freshen it up. You can reuse the charcoal sticks over and over again for up to three months!
After first boiling it, simply place a charcoal stick in your Large SoL bottle or SoL Cups and leave to infuse for at least 2 hours to let the charcoal do its thing! We recommend letting them infuse overnight to transform regular tap water to its clean and pure.
Not only do charcoal filters remove a lot of the nasty stuff from water, they can add things back into your water to make it healthier. Activated charcoal can add important minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and iron back into your water to improve the water quality.
- Charcoal is magical and multi use! Place one stick in a cupboard, wardrobe, fridge or inside shoes to remove odors and dampness.
- Beyond purifying water, charcoal traps odors in the air and can be planted in garden earth to stimulate healthy soil, or added to a hot bath to enhance blood circulation.
- Our charcoal sticks are vegan, gluten free, cruelty free and are the most sustainable, affordable option for purifying water
- Now these two black logs may seem small but they are MIGHTY! We asked our Founder Rebecca a few questions about our Charcoal Sticks and why they are so mighty!
Why did you want to produce charcoal sticks?
The main reason for producing these incredible charcoal sticks was to eradicate the need for people to purchase single use water bottles. Then if you ask yourself, why are people buying these? Well they want to avoid tap water. So instead of purchasing plastic water jug filters, which are expensive and bulky, why not use a completely natural, plastic free and organic product, that not only does the job INCREDIBLY ( it is also the world's oldest solution to absorbing impurities/ nasties) But also is the most sustainable option. You can just bury it in the soil after 3 months of use. Instead of having to purchase a brand new plastic filter every three months. It feels like a no brainer to me.
Why do you think not enough people are using charcoal sticks?
I think simply it is just not commonly available, we are almost the only brand in the country supplying this incredible product, I just couldn't believe it when I realized no one else was doing it.
What is your favorite thing to do with charcoal... other then use it to filter your drinking water?
They are amazing for deodorizing and purifying a space, so putting them in your clothes cupboards is a really innovative solution as well! Think if you have brothers or sons with smelly shoes in the closet, you can pop a couple of our sticks in there.
