I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing the amazing brand DAVINES live on instagram this month as part of our sustainable speakers series within our Plastic free July campaign ! I wanted to get even more incredible information from the team so we asked them to answer a few questions below! 


  1. Tell us about Davines - What is your mission!


Davines is an Italian brand established in 1983 in Parma, Italy. At Davines, we believe that living a balance of beauty and sustainability, what we call “sustainable beauty,” can improve our lives and the world around us. Our ideal of beauty works through practical and “sustainable” efforts. For us, sustainability deals with the responsibility we owe to ourselves, the people who we work with, our customers, and the world in which we live and operate. 


  1. Tell us about the product we are giving away, why is it so special?


As part of our special promotion with Sol we are giving away our Su Hair Mask. The Su line has been created to transport you to a warm Italian summers’ day. The formula of the Su hair mask has been enriched with an active ingredient from a Slow Food Presidium in Italy, thus helping protect local biodiversity. The packaging is made of plastic from renewable vegetal sources, known as PE bio-based. The Su Mask is a nourishing treatment which aims to treat hair which is exposed to sun, chlorine, and salt water, restoring softness, hydration and shine. 


  1. What are some of Davines core values?

  1. Tell us Davines biggest learning when it comes to running their business?


In 2018 Davines underwent a revaluation of their sustainability goals and motivations, 13 years following the commencement of the brands sustainability journey. The Chairman of Davines, Davide Bollati, prefaced “today, Davines’ renewed motivation is no longer to become the most beautiful company in the world, but the most beautiful company for the world. From now on, meritocratic competition at Davines will focus on values such as generosity, inclusiveness and positive impact for the planet, values in line with the principle of interdependence we committed to as a B Corp.”


  1. How do you implement sustainability into your daily practice, what makes you a solmate?


At Davines, sustainability is engrained into our core with small and large demonstrations of our commitment occurring daily. The Davines village in Parma is operated entirely off renewable energy and there are no single-use plastics available in the village either. One of our greatest sustainability practices is Davines being 100 percent carbon neutral, with all carbon dioxide emissions derived at Davines village, branches & subsidiaries worldwide offset through our Ethiotrees project.
