Meet the #SoLteam

by Rebecca Veksler on August 26, 2019

It is not everyday you get to say you LOVE work, but lucky for me, I do, every single day.

I love the people that surround me and I am so grateful to be on this journey with them. That i get to get to follow my passions and my visions of a greener, cleaner and healthier world.

Nothing happens without our superhero #solmates. We wouldn't be where we are without the most amazing team in the world, and I'd love you to meet them.

Harry (H-bomb): Sydney #SoLmate

Who are you and what are you most passionate about ?

My name is Harry, and I absolutely love the ocean. It is my go-to playground for physical rejuvenation, mental recalibration, and connecting with Nature. I am passionate about protecting our oceans from unnecessary single-use plastics so that all beings can continue to enjoy, live, and learn from our oceans.

What inspires you most?

Education and adventure. I personally enjoy the constant pursuit of bettering myself in all aspects, and using this to improve the world around me. To grow one must conquer their fears, and adventure is my favourite medium for this!

“Real adventure is defined best as a journey from which you may not come back alive, and certainly not as the same person.” - Yvonne Chouinard

Who inspires you most?

Yvonne Chouinard - Patagonia founder. His perspective on flat business structure, anti-consumerism, and enjoying life spontaneously is something that inspires me immensely. Yvonne and Patagonia has highlighted to me that you can run a very successful and impactful business by thinking long-term, considering people, and having a strong ethos.

Whats you're favourite part about team sol

I love knowing every day I get to work I’ll be asked "How's your morning been so far?" before "Have you read my email yet?". As simple as that is, it's the little things!

Thanks, Team Sol – keep shining bright!

What is your biggest achievement this year?

Making and taking my lunch to work every day for a month!

Carla: UK #SoLmate

Who are you and what are you most passionate about ?

My name is Carla and I am your #solmate for all things SoL in the UK and Europe.

I am most passionate about living my most vibrant life in a way that supports biodiversity and the needs of all other living creatures we share our planet with. I get abnormally excited with the opening of plastic free stores and farmers markets …. they provide community and make it easy and fun to reduce our ecological footprint.

What inspires you most?

Nature. It’s incredible diversity in expression, the way it has evolved over millions of years, constantly reinventing itself to adapt to changed surroundings.  I am particularly awed by the way a giant tree grows from a tiny seed…I know science can explain it all, but the wonder of it still makes me feel like its magic and anything is possible.

Who inspires you most?

If its not too cheesy, I want to say Rebecca Veksler, who founded SoL whilst suffering an automimmune disease at the age of 23. She found a gap in the market and created a beautiful 100% plastic free reusable cup that not only helps consumers save the planet from unnecessary disposable plastic waste, but makes it enjoyable and tasteful to do so. She has provided a solution to a huge throw-away waste problem that I care so much about and I am very grateful to be working alongside such a powerful woman on this mission.

What’s you’re favourite part about team SoL

We are an extremely driven, young hearted, can-do team who absolutely love the products we are working to spread to the world…and we have fun while doing it.

What is your biggest achievement this year?

Moving across the planet - from my hometown beach lifestyle in Bondi, Australia to my new abode in bustling London. I can’t say it was an incredibly difficult transition- I had a home to move into with my boyfriend, have an amazing job I absolutely love and am so proud of, and a supportive group of friends… but smooth sailing surely should still be celebrated as an achievement right?

Abi: Sydney #Solmate

Who are you and what are you most passionate about?
I'm Abi, a sun worshipping, adventure loving girl from England. I have spent the last few years visiting various countries and building my life in the bubble that is Bondi Beach. I love the way of life here, the passion for health, well being and the constant push to save the planet.
what inspires you most?
People! I love learning from others. Friends, colleagues and the mass of inspiring people we find on our social media network. Helping me become a better version of myself, everyday.
Who inspires you most?
My Dad. He bosses life. From encouraging my sporting hobbies, to my career choices and everything in between. He's now living in Canada and continues to inspire me everyday.
Whats your favourite part about team sol?
Besides saving the world one SoL cup at a time? We're basically food loving, comedians, ready to start our own reality show. 'Day in the life of SoL'.
What is your biggest achievement this year?
Deciding to study what I love and realising my potential within a world I only ever believed was a hobby. The process is ongoing, exciting and will one day result in one of my biggest achievements.

Bebe: Sydney + New Zealand #Solmate

Who are you and what are you most passionate about?
I was born in Byron Bay. I have been lucky enough to have spent the last few years living abroad for university and now I get to call Bondi home! I have a degree in International Relations and am completing a Masters in Finance and Economics. I am a pilates addict, and love to stay healthy with fresh whole foods.
What inspires you most?
I am inspired by people who are courageous with their goals, and compassionate in their actions.
Rebecca (our founder) inspires me because she is young, fearless, will make sure she becomes an expert in anything she doesn't already know, cares for her team, and works harder than anyone to achieve her goals.
Who inspires you most?
My parents guidance, endless love and patience also inspire me to practice those traits more with my own relationships.
Whats your favourite part about team sol?
My favourite part about being in Team Sol is getting to work with a company driven by such a strong goal- to create affordable and well produced plastic-free products that can be used every single day.
What is your biggest achievement this year?
My two biggest goals for the year are to
- continue to help Sol become a better company day by day and,
- remember to practice gratitude everyday. "
Now, we do have a few more team members, those who weren't able to answer these questions or didn't feel as comfortable with being posted about, but they are equally LOVED and appreciated, and we wouldn't be able to do what we do everyday with out them!
